Martin Kahanec advises the World Bank on the lessons from the European Unions' migration experience related to its recent enlargements as well as European Neighborhood Policy for the ASEAN countries.
„European enlargement and integration is a remarkable experiment of a gradual liberalization of migration regimes that can offer invaluable lessons for the ASEAN countries, which contemplate more integration. Besides several more and less obvious benefits of liberalization of migration regimes, one needs to be aware also of the risks it may involve,“ says Kahanec.
The results will be presented at upcoming ASEAN meetings.
