Marta Kahancová delivers a speech at the conference of the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies (AIAS), University of Amsterdam. On September 23, 2011, AIAS organized a conference in honour of Prof. Jelle Visser, scientific director of AIAS, on the occassion of his retirement. The conference, titled Trade Unions in Europe Today, addressed the challenges trade unions face and their new roles in the 21st century. Marta Kahancová's speech focused on the role of trade unions in Central and Eastern European countries after the EU enlargement and the economic crisis. The speakers invited for this conference are European experts on trade unions and industrial relations, which have enjoyed long-term cooperation with Prof. Visser.
