Marta Kahancova made a general presentation on Sectoral social dialogue in the new Member States. She focused on the five main sub topics: (i) pillars of the European social model of industrial relations; (ii) diversity in industrial relations at cross-sectoral level and in commerce sector across the EU; (III) the absence of sectoral social dialogue in most NMS on the national level (the so-called missing link); challenges of diversity in sectoral social dialogue and the national and EU developments in sectoral SD: interactions, implications, lessons. Kahancova proposed the following conclusions: recent EU enlargements increased the diversity in social dialogue structures; the ‘missing link’ of sector-level bargaining coordination in the NMS; improving bargaining coordination through capacity building of social partners in the NMS; strengthening EU-level sectoral social dialogue hand-in-hand with strengthening national-level sectoral social dialogue and finally raise social partners’ commitment through showing clear benefits for their operation in both the national and EU dimensions.
