On October 2, CELSI researcher Monika Martišková led a training session in the ETUI education training workshop called "Green Clauses in Collective Bargaining" (1–3 October 2025, Bratislava).
In the session, participants from Italy, Finland, Slovakia and Lithuania discussed the scope of the green transition at the workplaces and examples of green clauses from WageIndicator database. Participants then discussed their ideas on what green clauses they can tackle in their workplaces.
Together, participants identified four key areas for action:
- environmental impacts of companies where unions operate,
- economic impacts on workers in transformation (e.g. retraining, severance pay),
- commuting and transport issues of workers
- issues at the national and EU policy levels such as health and safety in emerging sectors or fair distribution of revenues from environmental taxes, such as the new ETS2 system.
These issues were further developed by participants into concrete action plans, outlining first steps at company, regional, and national levels. The training provided participants with practical pathways to bring green concerns into collective bargaining agendas, ensuring workers' voices are part of Europe's ecological transformation.
