How can Slovakia stay competitive while pursuing its green transition? Over the past two days, policymakers, researchers, and business leaders came together at the 8th annual conference “Decarbonisation of the Slovak Economy 2025”, organised by EURACTIV Slovakia, to tackle this key question.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics — from Europe’s industrial sovereignty under global competition, the impact of U.S. and Chinese trade policies, and the role of green electricity, to accelerating industrial decarbonisation, managing ETS2 in buildings and transport, and reducing dependence on Russian gas.
CELSI researcher Monika Martišková contributed to the opening panel “Trump, China, and Green Electricity: Turning Geopolitical Pressure into an Industrial Advantage”, bringing CELSI’s perspective on industrial transformation, just transition, and labour market adaptation in Central Europe.
We appreciate EURACTIV Slovakia for bringing together such an impressive group of speakers and participants for two days of meaningful dialogue and exchange.
We look forward to continuing the discussion on how to make Slovakia’s green transformation both competitive and fair.
