As part of the closing discussion of the Hľadá sa Gemer series, CELSI Scientific Director Martin Kahanec joined Marián Porvažník and organisers from GemArt - Gemerský umelecký inštitút on 27 June 2026 in Betliar for an informal debate on the belief in a positive future for the Gemer region.

The conversation centred on questions that have run through the entire series: whether Gemer can become a place of opportunity, why optimism is not naivety but courage, and whether the future is shaped more by decisions than by circumstances.

Kahanec, a labour economist and native of Rožňava, again stressed that genuine regional renewal rests not only on investment and projects, but on trust, strong institutions, and people's willingness to actively shape the future of their region.
