Charles Woolfson is currently professor of labour studies at REMESO, Institute for Research on Migration, Ethnicity and Society, Linköping University, Sweden. Until 2009 he held the chair of labour studies at the Department of Law, University of Glasgow. During 2000-2009 Woolfson mainly lived in the Baltics, and from 2004-2007 was a European Commission appointed Marie Curie Chair, teaching and conducting research in the three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. He has participated in a number of major EU research projects and has also conducted projects for various trade unions. His current research focuses on European labour standards and enforcement, industrial relations, East-West migration and the eastward enlargement of the European Union, problems of ‘wage dumping’, working environment and the growth of the informal economy.
