DEEPLAB: Implications of deep decarbonization of the high emission industries on labour market and employees

The DEEPLAB Conference on the Decarbonisation of Slovak Industry Is Behind Us – and We’re Delighted It Was a Success!

June 9, 2026

Last Friday, we gathered in Bratislava to discuss an issue that affects Slovakia more than many may realise: what will Slovak industry look like in 25 years, and what will that mean for jobs and workers?

We are pleased that the conference created space for an open discussion about the expected changes in Slovak industry and how the labour market can be prepared for these challenges. 🙏

📌 What We Discussed:

🔹 Four decarbonisation scenarios for Slovak industry up to 2050 – ranging from optimistic pathways to more challenging trajectories

🔹 Recommended policy measures for a successful industrial transformation

🔹 Labour market and education policies – what Slovakia needs to retain a strong industrial base

🔹 Women in STEM as an essential driving force of the green and digital transition
