Marta Kahancová in Rádiožurnál on public sector pay reform

CELSI Managing Director Marta Kahancová commented on public sector pay reform in the main news programme of Rádio Slovensko.

Over the past seven years, Slovakia’s minimum wage has risen by 76%, while pay scales in the public sector have grown by only a third.

From July 2027, pay scales for more than 450,000 state and public administration employees will rise by almost 8.5%, and the government is also preparing a broader reform of the pay tables.

Will this show up in employees’ pockets? In Rádiožurnál, the main news programme of Rádio Slovensko, CELSI Managing Director Marta Kahancová pointed out that funding mainly shifts from personal bonuses to base pay.

For most current employees with sufficient bonuses, total pay will not change much. However, the change gives more certainty to newcomers and those with lower bonuses.
